Disaster Relief - Donate or Volunteer

It's been a tough start to 2023 with several disasters - natural and man-made - that have hit our area. First the tornadoes of January 12, 2023 which hit both Coosa and Tallapoosa counties and  the March 26 Hail Storm which ravaged the Town of Camp Hill.

WANT TO HELP? There are several ways to help those affected by one or more of these tragedies start the recovery process. Each of the organizations listed below will coordinate their efforts for recovery and assistance to help as many as we can.

1. Lake Martin Area United Way is an active member of both the Coosa and Tallapoosa Long Term Recovery Committees (LTRCs) AND we are also the fiscal agent for these groups. Any monies donated will go toward recovery and rebuild efforts from the January 12 tornadoes and/or Camp Hill.

There are active members of each community working directly with survivors, as well as dedicated case managers, helping the LTRCs to identify all unmet needs and find a way to assist our neighbors in need.

Donations may be made via cash, check, credit card, Venmo (@LakeMartinUW - please indicate disaster recovery if sending via Venmo). Check or cash donations at our office at 17 Main Street, Alexander City, AL 35010 or MAIL donations to: P.O. Box 876, Alexander City, AL 35011

***Please be sure to include "Tornado Relief" or "Camp Hill" in the memo line so we can designate the funds to the appropriate disaster as you have intended. If you would like us to use it where it's needed most, please just put "DISASTER" in the memo line.***

Our United Way is working closely with the LTRCs in both Coosa and Tallapoosa Counties, along with our case managers, to determine how and where to dispense funds to best assist those in need following these disasters. Each disaster is being managed separately and thus funds will also be handled separately and in due time according to the disaster recovery process.
