Campaigning Looked VERY Different This Year
This campaign has looked like no other in recent memory. Fundraising during a pandemic was challenging to say the least, but we live in a wonderfully giving and supportive community!
COVID changed the world on March 13, 2020 as a national emergency was declared. Our country shutdown and only “essential” businesses could operate. Campaigning looked very different this year with only a few in-person visits to area businesses, but our local companies are awesome and most still had outstanding workplace campaigns despite the challenges of 2020.
Despite the challenges, we still had to go about the business of our regular Annual Campaign to raise funds for our 27 agencies and 5 community initiatives. SIGMA served as our Pacesetter this year helping us jump start things last September with our first (and hopefully last) VIRTUAL Kick Off on Facebook. Every employee fully embraced the theme “CHANGE...Together We Can Make A Difference.” Not only did SIGMA kick things off, but they did so by raising their company goal this year to $10,000 and crushing it to get things started!
As a United Way, we had to shift from many of our traditional fundraising events to smaller, socially-distanced events and finding creative ways to raise the funds needed to continue to support our agencies and our communities. Thanks to SIGMA’s pledges, proceeds from our Wedding Expo and Sip, Shop & Support event, Denim and Diamonds, as well as company workplace campaigns and individual donations, we had an outstanding campaign!!! In total we raised $505,597.13 for our 27 agencies and 5 Community Initiatives!!!
Thank you to everyone who pledged, donated and continued to support our United Way during this past year. YOUR support means we were able to fund all 27 of our agencies and help them to continue to do the valuable work they do in and for our community.
